Since we were at home today, I thought I might as well make some bentos for dinner.
Jaimie has been eyeing on my Hello Kitty lunch box when she saw it the other day. So I decided to give her a little surprise to pack her dinner in the box.
Jaimie's dinner: (1)Quail's egg, (2)flower-shaped carrots, (3)ketchup rice, (4)mixed veggi, (5)sausage mouse and (6)star-shaped apples.
Well, I have told many of my friends that I failed art since primary school and here is a good piece of evidence. Look at my Hello Kitty rice ball... if you can decide which is the Hello Kitty. Hopeless. And did you see the rabbit? Oh yes, there IS a rabbit shaped rice ball. While I was moulding the rice, I forgot it was a rabbit and I stuck the nori eyes too high up to the ears. The thing about the nori features is that once you stick them on, it is very difficult to remove them and you end up eating your mistake. As for the sausage mouse, I stole the idea from Meekfreek. I was so disappointed with my Hello Kitty that I didn't bother to decorate the eggs into a pig. I just do not have the hands to do it. Sigh.
Thankfully Jaimie was more fansinated by the Hello Kitty lunch box, Hello Kitty spoon, Hello Kitty cup and the apples that she didn't notice all my mistakes. However, she couldn't finish her rice and I attribute it to her poor appetite due to her illness. Ahem!
This is Clement's dinner. I mixed the mixed vegetables with diced crab meat into the rice and added a dash of mayo to make it look more artistic. But I failed art, remember? So the mayo was just there, lah. In case you are wondering, the quail's eggs and the mousy didn't bleed. It was ketchup. It was another failed attempt to make it look more artistic.
Anyway, Clement commented that the rice tasted better than the plain ones in Bento #2 with the added ingredients and the mayo.
